Description

The GTA 40 is STIHL’s first dedicated battery-powered pruner for professional use. Part of the AS System and powered by 2x AS 2 lithium-ion batteries, this tool has been designed for use on the ground or in the air*. Ideal for tree and shrub care, professional work in horticulture and landscaping as well as processing wood on construction sites and working in tree canopies or on crown reduction tasks.

The powerful EC engine and ¼” PM3 saw chain enables clean cutting and the variable chain speed allows full control of the cutting speed during use. The GTA 40 also has a sprocket cover with side-mounted chain tensioning and automatic chain lubrication, as well as a tool-free chain oil tank with sufficient volume for use with 6x AS 2 batteries. A soft rubberised handle and upper grip helps prevent slipping during use. The claw-shaped deflector at the top of the tool separates the upper grip area from the cutting attachment. Please be aware that the GTA 40 has been designed for use with 2 hands. Can be used by both right and left-handed users thanks to the rocker on both sides of the tool. An attachment ring lets you hook the tool on a belt for easy access whether you are working in the air or on the ground. Also available is the GTA 40 holster for quick access during work.

The GTA 40 uses 2x AS 2 batteries which are discharged in parallel. The tool cannot be used with only one battery. The charge level indicator of the tool is located on the top of the tool in an easy-to-read position.

Certified in accordance with IPX4 protection class means the GTA 40 and AS 2 batteries can be used in adverse weather conditions and is splashproof.

Hardcase is not included with the GTA 40 tool only version. Hardcase only comes with the GTA 40 SET.

SIDE-MOUNTED CHAIN TENSIONING

FOR SIMPLE AND SECURE RE-TENSIONING. Side-mounted chain tensioning allows for protected, easy and quick chain tensioning and replacement. The tensioning screw is inserted laterally through the sprocket cover.

TOOL-FREE OIL TANK

Thanks to the soft grip on the control handle, the chainsaw sits comfortably in the hand and can be operated safely. In addition, the users grip is improved by the soft material, which helps when using the chainsaw in wet conditions.

LED CHARGE-LEVEL INDICATOR

At the push of a button, the LED charge-level indicator will show the battery’s remaining capacity. This allows you to efficiently plan working hours and charge the battery in good time.

HANGING EYE AND OVERLOAD RING

FOR ADDING FALL PROTECTION. To secure the GTA 40 against falling during climbing work, the overload ring can be attached to the climbing harness.

EC MOTOR

LOW-MAINTENANCE AND EFFICIENT. Thanks to its compact design, low weight and high efficiency, the EC motor enables you to work in an energy efficient manner. This engine also has a long service life.

CAPTIVE NUTS

When changing the cutting attachment, you will not risk losing the nuts on the sprocket.

CONSTANT POWER

When using other brands of battery tools, the performance can sometimes decrease during work as the battery discharges. This isn’t the case with STIHL battery-powered tools. Thanks to the intelligent electronics, your tool will work with consistently high power across the entire battery charge, until there is no energy left in the battery.

IPX4 CERTIFIED

SPLASHWATER PROTECTION. The AP 200 S is IPX4 certified thanks to the encapsulated electronics and sealing of each individual cell. It means that the battery is protected against splashwater from all sides and can be used in rainy conditions.

ENERGY RECOVERY

When the throttle is released, energy is recovered and fed back into the battery – which extends the battery life during use.

COLD START FUNCTION

RELIABLE STARTING IN COLD TEMPERATURES. Our cold start feature protects the cells by warming them up in a controlled way before delivering full power and allows them to work down to -20 degrees. This AP battery has an improved cold start feature and can deliver full power within as little as 2 minutes at -20° Celsius.
